I’m still back-and-forthing with tech support for my crossposter; hopefully soon I’ll be able to get tags to work so y’all can subscribe/unsubscribe from certain tags (like the tweetybox tag, since twitter now shows up on twitter, tumbr, LJ, DW, AND here).  I know you all love me, but IMO nobody needs to see that much of me that many times.

Possibly I inhaled a huge portion of Balkan Bread, with butter and honey.  I couldn’t help myself, you see: I was at the grocery store just as they were unloading fresh loaves from the oven to the rack, and I swear by all the good things in the world that I cannot pass up freshly baked bread.

I currently have 2lbs of pork shoulder stewing in the crock pot – this is becoming a Thing I Do On Weekends. (Today’s flavorful liquid includes minced garlic, minced fresh ginger, chopped scallion, minced cilantro, rice vinegar, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and orange juice, in quantities I eyeballed.  And red pepper flake.)

We’ll see how it tastes in five hours — I’m leaning toward “good”, and plan to eat the chunks as lettuce wraps, with shredded carrot and MOAR fresh cilantro and scallion.

(One of the reasons I love my market is because their meats look like they used to be made of animal:  The 3-lb pork shoulder roast I bought was still attached to the skin (had I more fortitude and better cookware I’d figure out something to do with it; next time, next time.)

They also have loaves of delicious challah, both whole and sliced for sandwiches.  Monday morning I plan on picking one of the whole ones up and having all of the french toast in the WORLD.

I spent this morning cleaning and tidying my apartment – getting things off the floor and emptying the gross stuff out of my fridge and moving a couple of plastic bins to the part of the house I’m not in a lot.  Still have the broken TV; current plan is to ask IT at work to take it AWAAAAAY when we do out recycle/donation run.

Project Read ALL The Harry Potter continues apace, and I’m now neck-deep in Prisoner of Azkaban.  Most notable thing so far was the feeling of absolute elation that happened when Harry grabbed his stuff and ran, with Aunt Marge floating on the ceiling, and also absolute swelling pride when he told her off — especially after two books of watching Harry be a completely different person at the Dursleys’ than in the wizarding world.  (This is, I think, the book where the two hims, or the two faces of Harry, start to converge.

(I also see where people get the-Dursleys-were-physically-abusive from: Dudley flat out was, and so far Vernon has threatened physical violence in 3 of 3 books, and cracked Dudley over the head in one of them, as if that’s just a normal thing to do.  So it’s definitely not baseless, although fandom-melodrama levels of over the top is still, fandom-melodrama level of over the top. )
