Possibly last night I stayed up until one in the morning reading Anne's House of Dreams and then cried over the ending.

That hasn't happened in a while.

(I'm now officially finished with 4/8 books and I'm not sure I know how to handle that.)

Why did L.M. Montgomery have to die? Why do writers have to be mortal like the rest of us? WHY?

In other news I pared yuletide down to 3 requests and 5 offers, all fandoms I feel fairly solid in an dearly want to receive, and am hoping that assignments go out early next week. (I dropped Old Kingdom as a request because I think I'd really rather write it than read it.)

I think my favorite part of Anne of the Island was Gilbert acting all ... respectful and stuff when Anne turned him down. It's like he'd read Captain Awkward or something, with the managing his feelings like an adult. <3

Incidentally, there's an ebook version on amazon with all 8 of the Anne books for $0.99

Yeah indeed. It was like "wait, do we have character growth? Why yes yes we do!"

And ooooooooooooooooo you are awesome! I even have an amazon gift card to play with!

Well, LMM had chronic depression and there was another World War going on, so she kind of felt death was the way to go. >.>

I wish she'd had not-depression and another 50 years of high quality-of-life and writing :(

(Somehow is feels at once gauche and completely reasonable to wish WWII had never occurred, )

I love the Anne books! Rilla of Ingleside is my very favorite. Hope you enjoy the rest!

(Incidentally, they're all public domain, so you can find most of them at Project Gutenberg free and legal. There's even audio book versions of several of them from Librivox, or there used to be at least.)
